School, Sports & Camp Physicals

Starting school, playing sports, and attending camps are exciting life milestones for children and their families. With that being said, all three almost always require a comprehensive physical exam to ensure your child is healthy, safe, and ready to fully participate.

School, sports, and camp physicals are performed by our pediatric providers and include a medical history review, basic measurements and vitals, a physical examination, a heart health screening, and completion of any required forms. We also take time to answer questions and address any concerns.

REQUIRED CHILD PHYSICALS

Annual Physicals to Support Safe and Active Participation

School, sports, and camp physicals help ensure your child is healthy, prepared, and ready to participate safely. Our pediatric providers perform thorough exams, complete required paperwork, and provide guidance to support your child’s ongoing health and well-being.

Comprehensive physical exams evaluate your child’s overall health, confirm readiness for activities, and fulfill school, sports, and camp participation requirements.

School, sports, and camp physicals are important preventive visits that help ensure your child is healthy, prepared, and ready to safely participate in activities. These comprehensive exams not only meet participation requirements but also provide an opportunity for our pediatric providers to evaluate overall health, fitness, and any factors that may impact your child’s involvement.

Physicals are often required each year for school enrollment, organized sports, and camp programs, especially for school-aged children and adolescents.

A physical exam typically includes:

  • Review of medical history and prior injuries
  • Measurement of height, weight, and vital signs
  • Musculoskeletal and general physical assessment
  • Heart health screening and clearance for activity

We also provide guidance on injury prevention, safety, and any questions related to your child’s participation. We strive to help children stay healthy, active, and confident in the activities they enjoy.

School, Sports & Camp Physicals FAQs

Navigating parenthood can be challenging. Our team is here to help answer your questions and guide you in making informed decisions with your child’s health and well-being in mind.

  • How often does my child need a physical? Physicals, Sports and School Forms

Most children need a physical once a year. Many schools, sports teams, and camps require an annual exam to make sure your child is healthy and safe to participate. Even if a physical isn’t required, yearly visits help monitor growth, development, and overall well-being.

  • What if my child has a medical condition? Physicals, Sports and School Forms

If your child has a medical condition, our pediatric care team will carefully review their health history and current status during the physical. We will assess whether it is safe for them to participate and provide guidance or any necessary restrictions to ensure their safety. If needed, additional evaluation or follow-up may be recommended before clearing your child for activities.

  • What happens if my child is not cleared? Physicals, Sports and School Forms

If your child is not cleared during their physical, it means the provider has identified a concern that needs further evaluation before safe participation. Our pediatric care team will explain the reason, provide guidance on next steps, and may recommend additional testing, treatment, or a follow-up visit. Once the concern is addressed, your child can be re-evaluated for clearance.
